The Seweweekspoort Pass is a 3 day and 2 night tour. We will be sleeping over at two venues; one is in Herbertsdale and the other just pass Seweweekspoort. Dinner and Breakfast is included in this trip. Lunch and drinks is for your own account. ***Please note that this is a camping trip*** The distance of this trip is around 480km with regular stops in between.
This stretch is only 60km. We will Leave Mossel Bay at 15h00, heading towards Herbertsdale via the N2; then getting onto the R327 from there, this is mainly tar road with a bit of a beautiful gravel detour just before Herbertsdale. Once we get into Herbertsdale you will enjoy the lovely surroundings of a real local farming town, and some truly beautiful natural surroundings. We will stay at one of the few lodges in the valley, here we will enjoy dinner, and a bit of social interaction to get to know one another. Their facilities include a pool if you like to splash around a bit with a sundowner. There is no cell phone reception here, and you will have to part from your mobile activities for now.
The second day has a 155km to cover. We will start with a breakfast at our place of lodging, and head towards VanWyksDorp. On the R327 you will quickly notice the change, and get a feel of the Karoo which also has it’s rough desert charm, this is an easy road to ride, so feel free to let loose and open up a bit. Here we will take a break in the local village. From VanWyksdorp we head towards Ladismith for another breather at one of the local pubs before heading towards our final destination for the evening. Our final stretch will be through the Seweweekspoort Pass; this is definitely a treat! With the many twists and turns this is truly breath taking, and we will take it a bit slower here. About 19km further we will lodge at our tented camp with beds, and white linen where we will enjoy dinner, and social gathering.
Our final day has stretch of 238km, we will be heading towards Carlitzdorp where we will take a bit of a breather. Then the Rooiberg Pass is our next destination, this is a real treat, and a bit of technical riding up the mountain; it has beautiful scenery, and a great sense of being on top of the world once you reach the top. We will again go through VanWyksdorp without stopping. Our next stop will be at Dwarsrivier Country Getaway for a drink, before heading back to Mossel Bay.
